The Tillett Trust DEBUT scheme is open to instrumentalists and ensembles at the beginning of their professional performing careers. More information, eligibility criteria and application forms can be found on the Tillett Debut page.
As the 2021-22 concert season begins after the Summer, it is heartening to see venues with full programmes and a return to work for at least some musicians and performers. The Tillett Trust has been busy making bookings for its current artists for this coming season and as far ahead as 2023 as postponed seasons have pushed things back by a year or more.
We are also about to launch the application process for next year’s DEBUT Tillett Artists. Having had to cancel last year’s auditions due to Covid-19 we are very excited to see and hear a new group of exceptional young musicians from which we will select the next cohort of Tillett musicians.
Watch this space!
As we start a new year, things remain relatively quiet on the live music front, but our artists haven’t stood still waiting for it all to pass. Our newest DEBUT Artists have been busy recording, filming and streaming so that when concerts with audiences come back, they can hit the ground running. The Tillett Trust has been doing everything it can to aid them in these projects.
Pianist Dominic Degavino has been producing an almost uninterrupted series of streamed concerts since July last year, all of which can be found on his website. Plus, his concert of Brahms, Bach and Debussy from December for Kings Lynn Festival will be available to watch from Thursday 28th January, so watch out for that here.
Connaught Brass have also been busy and have managed to carefully navigate the added difficulties of playing in a brass group during this time. They are about to release a video sponsored by the Tillett Trust that they recorded at Henry Wood Hall in December. We will post that on here as soon as it becomes available.

Postponement of Presentation Concert 23 November. This date has been postponed by Wigmore Hall due to the coronavirus. We are assured by management that they will reschedule all dates lost to the pandemic in due course. The new date will be posted on this website as soon as more is known. In the meantime, please keep visiting our artists’ websites to see and hear samples of their playing.
We regret that the auditions for DEBUT artists 2021 have been cancelled. Plans for the next set of auditions will be announced on this website in Spring 2021.
As for so many musicians around the world, the COVID-19 situation has brought its challenges for our DEBUT artists. All live concerts have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. However, the musicians have been using different and imaginative ways of reaching out to their audiences during lockdown. Visit our DEBUT Winners page to hear and see our artists via their individual website links Current & previous winners
The Tillett Trust is continuing to pay sponsorship fees to DEBUT artists for the concerts they would have been performing during this period. If you would like to make a donation to support our young artists at a time when their incomes have been decimated, you can do so via our donations page Donations
The Tillett Trust is delighted to announce that Connaught Brass and Dominic Degavino have been chosen to be on the 2020 scheme. The brass quintet and pianist impressed the judges at the auditions last week and were picked from a formidable line-up of talented young musicians. You can hear them both at the Tillett DEBUT Wigmore concert on 23 November 2020.
As we prepare to enter a new year in just a few weeks, so the process of choosing next year’s Tillett DEBUT artists has begun. The Tillett Trust had over 50 applicants for the first round of video auditions and these have now been narrowed down to 14 superb young musicians who we will see in January for the live auditions. See our Tillett DEBUT page for the full list of finalists.
